Artists Statement

Though I experiment with other media such as acrylics I am basically a watercolor artist. I paint colorful representational landscapes and seascapes, still lifes, and botanicals. Watercolor is one of the fastest and most versatile medium. It's difficult to change after it's been allowed to dry, which explains it's reputation of being a difficult medium. Haste must be used in painting with water because it drips and runs and dries out, but this same haste leads to spontaneous creativity. It also leads to a certain amount of risk that makes watercolor so interesting. The spontaneity is why watercolors are revealing and personal.
